Hi Don,
A little background of myself. I have had anxiety my entire life, and panic attacks for about a year and a half. Currently I'm on Lexapro, Remeron, and Klonopin. (Remeron is an extremely low dose just to help me sleep, and not a conflict with the Lex).
Anyway like you I am extremely med sensitive. Last year anone I was on 19 different meds. (Tranquilizers, SSRI, Mood, and other sedating) And yes for about 6 months I was on the Neurontin also.
The "Irrational" thoughts or very common and if you didn't have them then you would be an exception. As for the instant messenger, we have given it some thought, but honestly IM'ing people is not as effective as talking someone through it. My advice to you and everyone esle that comes here is to join a support group. Support groups are outstanding, you get to bond with people that suffer the same garbage as you and they can relate what you are going through. The other great thing about support members is, they are only a phone call away from your attacks and they can calm you down. If interested, call your local hospital and they will usually have one or two on file that they can give out to you.
The main purpose of this board is to be supportive and share stories. I hope you still stay on here and keep us updated with how you are doing, and you can email me at anytime by clicking on the hyperlink above. Take care and hope to hear from you again...
: Hi everyone! I have battled anxiety since 1986
: when I went to college. I
: "survived" by doing self
: hypnosis and breathing techniques. I went
: several years without an attack until a
: year after I was married. I went the
: course of meds. For me SSRI
: antidepressants don't work. I recently
: tried Lexapro and had a drug induced
: anxiety attack - But I survived as all of
: us will no matter how bad the attack may
: seem. Klonopin has always worked for me.
: I recently though have been experiencing a
: lot of anxiety in the morning and have had
: dreams of my mom or wife or someone dying
: and going to their funeral. Obviously
: these irrational thoughts were fueling my
: anxiety and finally indicated to me that I
: was more depressed than I should be. I
: now take Neurontin (300mg morning and
: night) and use Klonopin as needed (.25 to
: .5 mg a day)The Neurontin really helps my
: mood but my current dosage requires me to
: still take Klonopin. I battled through a
: hour of anxiety this morning but got
: through it again for the 50 billionth time
:
Has anyone set up an instant messenger
: group to help people during
: "panic" moments. My IM is
: donrjames@hotmail.com for MSN or
: donrjames@yahoo.com for Yahoo. I would be
: willing to help anyone that needs it
: assuming you are on the Internet.
