Unfortunately there are some things that I disagree with you, "I personally would never go to a support group either, but I read message boards like this to learn about new meds or a possible cure." Well I guess if you are too busy to find time to take care of yourself, then you must love the idea of being on meds the rest of your life. You see Don, meds will only mask your problems, and believe me 8 weeks of therapy will not cut the mustard. If it did for you great, you are one of the exceptions. Your anxiety must not be as severe as some other people here. "Self hypnosis has been very helpful at times to bring my anxiety down to a manageable level." I am glad that this worked for you, but it falls into the ALTERNATIVE THERAPY umbrella. Most people, including myself, would feel more comfortable talking to other people with the same disorder then trusting someone to control my mind. Actually I think the latter makes you more vulnerable and how well can you look yourself in a mirror letting someone else control your mind. Personally I wouldn't trust anyone to do such a task. I rather beat this on my own terms, and I feel more of a man for doing so. Support groups are SUPPORTIVE, you make your own decisions. Plus the friends I made, I wouldn't trade that for anything. I am not an imformercial for supports groups. I do not make a single penny for them nor do I for working on this board. I just enjoy helping people and the support group I'm in is NON FOR PROFIT. And many of them out there are NON FOR PROFIT. So dollar for dollar I challenge you to find anything better than that, especially since support groups work. 1: This board is pro support groups and if you believe in them please post your opinions elsewhere (There are plenty of them on YAHOO. By all means you are allowed to post here, but like support groups KEEP IT SUPPORTIVE... 2: I wish you the best of luck on finding and purchasing your home, and with your road of life. Take Care and God Bless, //\/\\ike --Previous Message--
Hey Don,
Before I go I want to leave you with two thoughts:
: Over the years my symptoms have changed as I
: have adapted to my body adapting to my
: Klonopin. I have had a slight
: strangalization feeling when I had a
: drugged induced anxiety attack when I
: tried Lexapro. Did you mean that you were
: on .5 mg of Klonopin or 5 mg of Klonopin.
: I have taken Klonopin since 1994 and it
: has worked great. I curently take .5 to
: .75 mg a day. Most salespersons have to
: be experienceing some sort of anxiety in
: view of the current state of the economy.
: I personally would never go to a support
: group either, but I read message boards
: like this to learn about new meds or a
: possible cure. I would tell your current
: doctor that you are still experiencing
: attacks on your current dosage and see
: what he/she says. The fact that you feel
: better by a hospital means that you
: already can lower your anxiety level
: mentally. Cognitive therapy (8 weeks)will
: teach you what is going on and to learn
: breathing and neuromusclar relaxation
: techniques that will give you the tools to
: stop an attack in its tracks anywhere.
: Self hypnosis has been very helpful at
: times to bring my anxiety down to a
: manageable level. I am looking to buy a
: house right now and one of the factors is
: how far away is the nearest hospital.
: You will make it - we all do!!!
