: I have this irrational fear of storms. My
: wife
: ridicules me about it, which only makes it
: worse. Our home has been flooded, has had
: numerous power outages and once the tree in
: our backyard was hit by lightning. I have
: trouble sleeping when the weather calls for
: thunderstorms or worse. I don't know how to
: get over this. I'm the only I know with this
: problem. I just watched the local weather
: forecast and they're calling for the threat
: of severe weather every day for the next
: whole week. It seems like it never ends.
: Where is help?
:
: :I know exactly how you feel. I have a fear
: of flooding too. My basement flooded 2 years
: ago while my entire family was camping for
: the weekend, and I haven't been able to get
: over it yet. I get so nervous everytime it
: rains heavy, which seem to be alot. My heart
: starts racing and I'm a nervous wreck. My
: husband has made such changes to ease my
: anxiety, such as putting in glass block
: windows, battery pumps, etc., but I am
: literally panic stricken every time it rains
: hard. Have you ever tried to get help for
: this?? I want to, but have no idea where to
: go. Any advice would help. Thanks.

We have put n sump pumps, flood control, repaired the foundation ans re-top-soiled the back yard. I have gone to group therapy and individual counseling for years with no help. The good thing about this is having someone with the same problem to talk to. Maybe together we can get better.
