: Hi, yes, Klonopin is addictive, but not as
: addictive as xanax. Klonopin is a long
: lasting anti anxiety medication. A little
: bit goes a long way. Your body naturally
: will get use to the same dose as with any
: narcartic drug. Klonopin however lasts for at
: least 6hrs. If you can keep yourself on a
: low dose you may not have such a hard time
: when you want to come off the med.
: I have been on Klonopin for 2yrs now. I have
: cut down from a very high dose I was taking.
: If you take and antidepressant such as Zoloft
: which I highly recommend, you may not need
: too much Klonopin because the Zoloft
: (non-addicting) works on the the parts of the
: brain as Klonopin.
: It also comes in generic Clanezepam.

Your summation is correct, save two errors. Klonopin at it's lowest elimination is 18 hours; Xanax is 12. Although the typical range for clonazapam is 25-50, which is moderate. Valium metabolizies to nordiazapam and can stay in the system 200+hours. This is relatively minor pharmocodynamics, however.
You were very wrong to relate Zololft with Klonopin; they are like apples and oranges. Zoloft is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor, a class of anti-depresssants. Zoloft works by blocking serotonin's reuptake to the pre-synaptic neuron. Serotonin or 5Ht carries messages from neurons in the brain; after the 5Ht has finished its delivery to the post syaptic neuron, usually it is reuptaked to it the pre-neuron. But in between the neurons is the synaptic cleft, and by blocking 5Ht's reuptake it has no choice to exist in the sysnaptic cleft. For still unknown mechanisms this can help depression and some other disorders.
But Klonopin works the GABA (gammmaminobutryric acid). GABA slows other neurons; drugs like Klonopin accentuate this process; it also slows down the nervous system and is considered mildly addictive.
