Hi Julie,
Sorry to hear about your panic attacks too! It sounds like you have thoughts that tend to get carried away. That happens to me a lot and I just have to remind myself that i need to calm down. But sometimes we just can't help it, huh? Its like we can't control our thoughts. Therapy can help if you can afford it. I used paxil a couple of years ago and that helped but it was hard to get off of. I am not trying prozac. You might want to be careful with the xanax. I know they work so good! My therapist told me that xanax can actually make your anxiety worst b/c once it wears off it will jolt you back up again if that makes any sense. Try your hardest not to take it b/c its very addictive. When I have the attacks at night i just get up and watch t.v or look on the computer. Its a big interuption in my sleep but hopefully the prozac will help. And no caffeine! That really messes me up. One more thing-sometimes you have to stay on the meds for a year before you can get off of them and be ok. I hope this has helped. I've never joined a messege board either but i think its a good way to talk with someone who is going throught the same thing. My husband doesn't understand. He just thinks I am a hypocondriac. Oh yeah, i read on a web site that if you just accept the panic attack and don't try to fight it, its better b/c by fighting it you will make it worse. Just tell yourself "ok, here it is i will ride it out and it will be over." Turn on the tv and just let it be. Good luck!

: I was wondering if anyone has experienced
: panic
: attacks at night. When I am awake I do fine
: controlling my attacks but when I am about to
: enter deep sleep I all of a sudden wake up
: feeling very strange. Like I am very aware of
: my body-like my heart beat and my head
: mainly. I feel scared that I am going to die
: and I sometimes feel impending doom. This
: seems to happen when I am the most tired and
: am sure I will have no problems sleeping. I
: used to have no problems sleeping but this
: has been going on for like 7 months. I am in
: my early twenties so i'm sure its not health
: related. I am starting to get very depressed
: about this. I was just curious to see if
: anyone else had this happen'
: thanks
: : Hi there my name is julie and i am from NC.
: I have been having panic attacks off and on
: for9 years. When I got pregnant with my first
: child, I had to stop my meds that were not
: working that great anyway and they went away.
: After my 2nd pregnancy they came back and i
: started a new drug called LEXAPRO.....This
: really seemed to help so I started to cut
: back on my meds to save money and now for the
: past 2 months I have suffered with panic!
: After one attack that I talked myself into I
: know wander when is the next going to strike
: and I bring another one on. I use to hate
: having panic attacks at night because I felt
: all alone. About a week ago I was woken up by
: my daughter from a deep slepp and she wanted
: me to pick my other daughter up and more her
: to the other side of the bed.....well I did
: and after I did it I went to bed and began
: thinking about when I was a child and had
: mono and the doctor told me I couldn't pick
: anything up heavy because of my
: spleen.......well then I became short of
: breath and began sweating and chills and
: eally believed i was dieing....I was saying
: out loud to my self......stop it! don't be
: stuiped! you know this is nothing! well after
: a zanx and about 30 min of watching tv I
: began to feel very very tired. This was not
: my first attack at night and I have to admit
: those are my scarest. I'm sorry to have
: talked your ear off my this is the first
: support group I have every wrote in and you
: just seemed to have the same feelings I did
: & still do!
