Posted by Chris on 9/24/2005, 8:22 pm I went back to a doctor and he immediately put me on Effexor XR and within 2 weeks has me up to 150mg daily along with exazopam 30mg 3 times daily and clonazapam 1 time before bed. For 2 weeks I felt like crap, anxiety attacks lasting for 10 to 14 hours a day everyday, until last Monday, I woke up and it stopped. 4 days now it has been great, then we get new neighbours yesterday and Boom, it hits again, so needless to say, I don't handle change well, its all part of the package. My doctor said to give the Effexor XR a change to work, he said 3 weeks is not enough, it takes 4 to 6 just to start, anyone else have success with this drug?? Will it work??
Hi all, I just came across this message board and quite frankly, it's nice to know I'm not alone, I'm sure anyone going through this feels alone at times. My symptoms started 10 years ago after I got back from a military operation where there was a lot of death involved, I went through all the severe panic problems for a year to the point of blacking out on a weekly basis before I was forced to get help.
They diagnosed me with severe post traumatic stress disorder. I started seeing an Phsycologist, a Phycyciatrist and a doctor, they started me on therapy and paxil. The paxil didn't work, so then they tried Zoloft, it worked great. After about 2 years of weekly therapy and Zoloft along with ativan and lorazepam, my symptoms cleared up. I stayed on the Zoloft for a few more years just to make sure (150mg) daily, then tapered off with the advice of my doctor. A year has gone by now with no symptoms at all, no medications at all, everything has been great. Then my wife and I had our first baby 3 weeks ago, BOOM, it's back in full force.
