There was quite a bit of product advertising that encorporated V-Mail into the ad as a way to encourage its use. In some cases such as the Emerson Electric ad, the company explained why their products would be in short supply and that consumers should take care of the products that they have until the war is over. I think it's a fabulous show of patriotism.
