Hey there Rachel. Yes, my writing did improve. A lot. And continues to do so. At least I like to think it does. The flex nibs helped me to think about what my hand was doing, especially since I am a lefty. I find I use script more when I have a nib that flexes or is a CI/stub, and tend to print more with stiffer nibs. I still worry about my writing, and work to improve it by writing certain lines that are a meditation I came up with most nights. Gives me an excuse to play with pens. IIRC, you are a southpaw, right? Flex nibs and calligraphy/pretty script is harder when you are pushing the nib instead of pulling it. I'm sorry your snail friend felt she needed to stop writing. What a funny/selfish/snobby reason. I think that would have hurt my feelings...
