reference from Joe Nickell's Pen, Ink & Evidence

I looked over a few books on papers, inks and history of writing. Joe Nickell's wonderful book has reference for indentions that remain....
"can be enhanced by oblique lighting, also known as low angle grazing light. This causes the otherwise indistinct text to appear in shadow, thus contrasting with the background."
Perhaps this will work, depending on depth of impression, you may be able to see part or all of the writing. Let us know how you fare as a new paper forensic detective.
