what were the very first demonstrators?

I used to collect demonstrators, both clear cap/barrel and cut outs, those with holes in caps and barrels to show the innards. Correct me if wrong, but I think the first demonstrators were the Parker Bakelite
clear barrels. Some were very clear, others had a yellow cast. Some thought the yellow or amber color barrels were discolored from age but I saw an article indicating the original was actually "amber".
Has anyone ever seen clear demonstrators prior to 1910?
