This is a Wahl Checkerboard Design white gold filled miniature ringtop fountain pen c. 1924. This is a variation of the Checkerboard Design, a repeating pattern of panels of squares in plain blocks and straight lines, where the pattern is in panels going around the cap and barrel. This version only shows on the miniature pen and pencil in the catalogs. This 3 1/8 inch long pen is the smallest size Wahl pen and comes a with a 14 karat gold Number 0 size nib stamped WAHL 0 14 K. White gold fill is not listed in the catalogs and may have been a special order. Miniature pens appear to be introduced in 1924 and Wahl claimed these pens were capable of writing 1,200 words with one filling. The barrel has a rectangular blank for engraving.
