This is an Aurora Europa Limited Edition piston fill fountain pen 2007. This 5 1/8 inch long pen commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome, signed on 25 March 1957, establishing the European Community. The pen design includes symbols of events in European history. The six stars on the cap band represent the original EU members Italy, France, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg. The factory and railway represent the industrial revolution. The stylized double helix represents the work of Francis Crick and James Watson that led to the discovery of the DNA molecule. The clip is engraved with the profile of Europe. Each pen is made of pearl-grey, white and black marbled resin, called Fumo di Londra. The cap is topped with a blue hydrothermal quartz. The edition number is engraved at the cap top. It features an 18 karat rhodium-plated solid gold nib. Retail price was $1,075.00 and 7,500 pens were made. Matching rollerball pens, ballpoint pens and sketch pencils were also made.
