I have not restored one of this version of Vacuum-fil Sheaffer's in awhile. The blind cap is clear so that you can view how much ink is in the pen. You have to cut the rounded end off and attach it over the step in the blind cap, like you would the nipple on a section. First the exact length of the ink sac needs to be determined. I think the way I did that was to measure the barrel and subtracted the lengths of the threads at both ends, the section threads and the blind cap threads. Then you shellac the sac (tube) to one end, section or blind cap, then let it dry thoroughly for four or five days. Then you can reach inside the barrel and grab the open end of the sac with tweezers or hemostats, pull it out and clamp it with a clothespin, then shellac the sac to the part you are attaching it to and let it the shellac dry for another four or five days or so.
