Details and Things Left Unsaid...
|...equal lies in my view, i.e. one is as bad as the other. I've gotten burned on pen deals a few times. It happened to me recently from the online auction venue that most of us have a significant love/hate relationship with. I won & purchased a scarce sterling overlay pen. Before I bid on the pen I ask the seller some questions about it that would have taken maybe a couple of minutes or so to inspect the pen and an answer my questions. This is what I ask " was thinking about bidding on this pen, but your description is light on details. Are there any breaks or cracks in the overlay? Are there any dents in the overlay or other damage to the overlay? Is the clip tight enough to hold a piece of paper when slipped under it? Is the filling lever in place? Thanks!" This was the reply I received, "sorry new to this its in great condition". I was not happy about the lazy and ignorant reply, but I took a gamble and bid on the pen anyway. I received the pen and the round end plate on the barrel was M.I.A. and there is not enough silver left for bead to hold a replacement end plate in place. There are obvious factory tool marks where the end had been. I was P.O.'d and in a quandary. I did not want to return the pen for a refund and did not want to give the seller negative feedback, because their late father was a close friend of mine. I think even when someone tries to keep their Karma in balance, someone else's unbalanced Karma can still jump up and bite you on the posterior, unfortunately. Rant over.
