sample kits from 1960s - 1970s
when I first started in the promotional advertising business I had ballpoint sample kits from various pen companies. My son, then 6 - 7 years old would take samples of the pens and stash them away to begin a ballpoint collection. Many years later he had quite a collection including catalogs from Montblanc, Parker, Sheaffer and others. Some years later he and his sister wanted to raise some money for the summer and though a lemonade stand was kind of overdone. So....he set up a small table in front of the house selling ballpoint pens for 25 cents. He made a lot more money than selling lemonade and he didn't have to deal with melting ice.
Here is one of his kits, the case from Gold Bond and the pens mostly from Paper Mate, all with promotional advertising imprint.
Other than these he still has a few nice Parker 75s as users.
