Today, I received the third bad pen I ordered on eBay this week. This one was described as a "Capped Bic ballpoint." Never having seen one before, I sprung for $15; mine was the "best offer accepted."
I received it today, from nearby, from a seller with a spotless record on 1000+ transactions. [On second reading, all else that he appears to have sold are Parker Sonnets - about which both AZ and I each wrote artcles describing how prevalent the frauds were with them]. No Bic markings; only China. It required tools to take it apart and put back together. Pleasing to the eye was the only good news.
Some years back, a friend (whom I've known since 1955) used a line I've not forgotten: If it looks like poop, and smells like poop and tastes like poop, be glad you didn't step into it! My first reaction is to just blow this guy up on eBay, but then I thought he maybe REALLY needed the $15. And then I thought, no, he's a crook - just hasn't been caught 'till now.
What would you do with such idiocy (his and/or mine)?
