I live in Rochester NY, home of the Eastman Kodak company and his enduring legacy which still continues to influence the city and its educational and musical life (eg, Eastman school of music, Kodak hall, etc). Early film was made of very flammable materials like cellulose nitrate and later, cellulose acetate. We still have “nitrate film festival” every now and then, trained projectionists are needed, and it plays in the beautiful Dryden theater.
I wonder if there was a direct connection between film and pens, such as the same companies both making rod stock and film reels.
