Re: Rubber Cement?
There is nothing “wrong” with using rubber cement. All the other aforementioned solutions also have some carrier matrix that is harmful to pens—-such as acetone, alcohol, etc. The minor amounts of solvent in rubber cement be it toluene or some less toxic substance will hardly harm pens, especially in the interior of the barrel or section. I would actually avoid using messy things like nail polish or excess rosin where you grip the pen 24/7 unless you want to end up with yucky fingers. Personally I use sac cement or nail polish if I expect not to repair the pen for a decade or so.
As kids we used to slather our hands with rubber cement to clean them when they peel off. Perfectly safe for human body, so pens should not be a problem.
