Summer flea market many years ago at Kane County Flea Market in IL, saw Terry Mawhorter who I did not know at the time. He had this Ventura sterling set for sale along with another set. Both very desirable on my "want list" couldn't decide which one to take so he just suggested, "take them both". What a wonderful suggestion from a seller to a wide eyed collector. I caved and it worked, I took them both. I really liked sterling pens and this Ventura model was simply gorgeous. All sterling, Duo-Angle 14K with a delicious flexible nib which write right side up and upside down for a finer line.
Move forward a few years a friend from Israel was visiting, took him to a flea market, found a few but nothing that was a heart throb. Looking over my own collection he spotted the Ventura sterling and I could see he really liked it. He made me trade offers of some stunning pens including a Waterman with a sterling hammered overlay. I wanted to keep the Ventura but wanted my friend to go home happy. So we traded. I was never able to find another one in the wild so I just chalked it up to another experience with pens and friends. Really nice pen, if you see one, pick it up.
Here is a great link from Jim Mamoulides PenHero with complete history of the Ventura pens.
