I'm a guy but I do understand a little about fertility.
As I understand it menstruation is getting rid of an old egg. You might refer to this as 6 o'clock on the cycle. As the clock moves toward 12 it's called the follicular and at 12 the egg is the most receptive to being fertilized. After 12 and moving back down to 6 the stage is called the latial (excuse the spelling) and finally at 6 the egg is thrown out. As I understand it all female mammals are born with all the eggs they will ever have and each menstruation is another egg tossed out.
Now please explain to me how you can get pregnant during menses.
