Border Colloie mouthing problem

Hi,
I got a border collie pup last week. He is now just 8 weeks old. Whenever he gets excited he grabs and growls and also mouths a lot of times. If I say ouch/yipes he continues to do it. Now I am trying the technique of saying firm NO and stop playing but then he starts nibbling. I am not sure how to correct this behaviour.
