About five years ago a small club night existed. It is perhaps the best club in Dublin in the last decade, unfortunately it has since ceased. The name of that club was Dazed, which used to take place in the 13th Floor, top of O'Connell St every Wednesday. With a small intimate setting, cool friendly crowd, easy door policy, cheap drink and candles to boot, it was the best way of spending a Wednesday night. The club had cool flyers which simply listed off the dozens of cool bands that they played - in those days that was enough to bring out the faithful. I remember well picking up a flyer from the counter of Boardline records in Temple Bar on a warm summer Dublin day. In Dazed the music was king, there was no standing in the middle of the dancefloor with a pint chatting with yer mates (like Whelans). Dazed was the sort of place you'd go and wait aroung all morning till the first bus brought you home - I know I did it. Dazed played slick music, from teenage fanclub to my bloody valentine, from pj harvey to orbital, from smiths to pulp, from pavement to sonic youth, from tindersticks to pixies, from breeders to deus, and acres more in between. Are the folks that brought us Dazed still around? Does the spirt of Dazed still exist and if so where can I find it?
