Really?!?
I was surprised to read this, because between the ages of two and four my family lived in the Santa Barbara area and I remember eating there as a tot (circa 1967).
We moved away but had a grandmother who stayed in SB and thus made many family visits there over the years. I remember being unable to go to Sambo's (because it no longer existed) fairly early in the 1970's.
I'm also surprised to read it because you're the one who's way into this sort of stuff, so I'd expect you to be right. Maybe they brought it back?
I haven't been to Santa Barbara since about the early '80s (grandmother passed away, no more need to go there), and twenty years is plenty of time for such a thing to have happened.
