I had totally forgotten about Meijers. When I was growing up in Jackson, MI, it was named Meijers Thrifty Acres! My memories of that place were that it made my eyes red from the fluorescent lights and that the potatoe skins were always a little green (my Dad always blamed the fluorescent lights for that too). *shrug*
I recently passed an Arthur Treachers while driving through Lynchburg, VA on Highway 29 (on the north side). I find myself surprised when I see them too. I didn't go in because I just can't eat the fried food anymore although as a child...wow, it was sooo good.
