For true, great tasting old school pizza, New York Pizza on Tate street can't be beat. Bill's pizza also put out a great pie for awhile, but sadly I think they are no longer in bez. Pie Work's, a small NC based chain has a location on Lawndale drive which put's out gourmet style pizza's which are some of the best I've ever tasted. I'm still looking for a Taco Pizza as good as the one Bill's pizza was making back in the early '80s.
