And how can anyone prove a fact? I could say a fact is something that can be verified and repeated, can be demonstrated in front of anyone. Maybe something like, the fact that I am typing this sentence, or breathing, or working, or that I even am.
But then, even those "facts" could be only part of a greater illusion. What if "I" really am not. What if "I" am liimited by my senses and the body that I am in. Science has seemed to show how many colors are in the spectrum that I cannot sense. According to scientific theory, experiments, and repeatability the infrared spectrum seems to be, but because I cannot see it, does that mean it does not exist?
See statements like the one above offer a narrow minded perspective just as much as the dogmatic christian, muslim, or david ickian does. You have the fundamentalists, be they bible thumpers or star trek freaks, that live the fairy tale that makes them happy. And then you have the pure nowist atheist who finds that the scorning of fairy tales makes up their fairy tales.
To me, it is all about a thin middle ground. To live life according to only what I consider fact would be little fun. The root word of belief is LIE, so beLIEf must be performed carefully because it easily leads to dogma and foolishness. But then again, anyone who has ever dropped some good acid, dmt, or ayahuasca KnOwS that just because we do not "sense" it does not mean it is not there.
