Otherwise, I'm reading/not finishing a lot of books: Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, philosophies of Wittgenstein still, Biogeochemistry text still, Gray's Anatomy and S.I. Fox's Human Physiology in small bursts now, Henry Schoolcraft's Ozark journal on occaision, often: Sibley's guide to birds of Eastern N. America, Steyermark's Missouri Flora, and I'm excited to get my hands on a copy of Mushrooms Demystified by David Arora.
Sorry for the long list.
I watched American History X a few nights ago- it's still one of the best.
I've been getting more into sedges, and putting off learning trees lately.
I play my fieldmate's Takamine sub-company Jasmine acoustic guitar, as well as my Cort Starlite through a 10-watt Fender amp (with a Silent Knight cable...sweet). A fair amount of surf and Latin-inspired music gets played.
I've been eating feral hog meat on about a weekly basis, would like to go to grad school starting at some point next year to study forest ecology, forestry, prairie ecology, or wetland ecology. I'm mostly interested in biodiversity, community ecology, nutrient cycling, ecosystem ecology, and metabolic pathways (and how metabolism and natural communities evolve).
I'll be doing bird surveys this week through the last week of June for Missouri's DNR, and I'll be in the U.P. for July and August doing vegetation sampling for a friend of mine working on her master's there.
Superficially, that's my life for the time being.
