So a bunch of nerds on the MUFON board are up in arms about December 21, 2012. I go messing around with Wikipedia on the date, and get to read about a near-Earth-asteroid. Lo and behold, NASA landed a probe on this asteroid, and a guy sued them saying they owed twenty cents a year to him for "parking and storage" of the space probe because he claimed the asteroid under a homesteading act. The court disagrees, saying, "While Article 9 of the California Commercial Code sets forth a procedure for the regulation of security interests in property, it does not create a property interest in an asteroid."
