Posted by Samantha on 11/22/2005, 1:54 pm, in reply to "can't break up... HELP!!!" I read your email and think that the both of you need to take time apart. Firstly, you need to ask yourself why you love this man? and what does love mean to you? because it's clear that the both of you may have non compatability issues. Lastly, you mentioned that your addicted to him which means that you are showing signs of co-dependency. Why are you so dependent on having him in your life?. This indicates that you have issues within yourself - such as self-esteem issues. Looking back at your relationship history, have you found yourself addicted to abusive men and/or those who give you a hard time?. Given all what you've said so far, you really need alone time to form your own identity away from your boyfriend and vice versa. I cannot advise you to leave your boyfriend but whilst you're depressed, addicted to this self-destructive relationship which is highly emotive and charged - it is clearly doing you no good. I think that you fear leaving him would make you feel alone and a lesser being, however, you need to have space away from him to get your mind and self-esteem healthy. It certainly cannot happen with your boyfriend around you and vice versa. If any of the above has been of use to you or anyone out there, then please check out my website www.positive-vision.co.uk I'm a qualified lifecoach specialising in relationships as well as other issues. My website is still under development however, I advise that you check it out. Hi
Secondly, your partner may have insecurity issues when he questioned your love for him. Alternatively, this could mean that you do not show him that you love him - either way this needs looking into.
