Dear Nate,
Upon reading what you have posted here, I felt this sadness and pain in me because I can really relate in your situation.
Last, Decenber 14, 2005, my boyfriend decided to let me go. He told me that it would be better if we will just become best friends because according to him, I do not deserve him anymore. He was my first love and like you, I also consider my relationship with him as the best I ever had... and I always believe that i can no longer find someone who could replace him.
I know how painful it is and how it hurts because we truly love the person. In fact, even up to this moment I am still love him this much. However, there also a need for us to move on. Believe that everything happens for a reason. Besides, if that love is really for you, it will come back to you no matter what happens...
How about looking into the brighter side? Who knows? Someone will come into your life (it may not be now) and will love you for who you really are... Someone who deserves your love better and will never leave you even if he can...
Now, try to accept everything that happened and be thankful for the memories and the lessons you've learned in it. Be happy. Happiness doesn't depend on someone; rather it's your choice. Most of all, pray because our Almighty God is only there, waiting for our call. He knows best for you...
