Thanks Boris, I was reading it in a rush at work pause and missed that part.
Still not confortable with the amethyst base... the designer could have found a diferent way of including Pss Marie favourite stone in the tiara. Perhaps I will change my opinion when she first wears it along with the earrings.

: As you can read in the first post from EricS
: in the tiara's description, the base is made
: of cabochon amethysts.
: Amethysts are also dangling at the bottom of
: the earrings.
:
: I find them odd too, like an afterthought to
: lend the tiara more substance; they're
: disconnected from the flowers above, and I
: don't quite understand why amethysts weren't
: used in the flowers as well (perhaps in the
: stamens) in order to make the design more
: cohesive.

: Are those pierced cabochon saphires in the
: base of the tiara? I think I would prefer it
: without this base...

: I actually wonder why Princess Marie didn't
: debut her new tiara (and matching earrings
: which apparently form a set - see below) at
: the state banquet for the Chinese President;
: with everyone else choosing their less grand
: jewelry, it would have been a fitting
: occasion to do so.

: Ah ok, I searched the archive to see if this
: was already posted but couldn't find
: anything on it.
