My husband, after years of using simple and inexpensive wedding bands I bought at a discount store, started to buy me each year a splendid piece of jewelry. First a 1 carat diamond solitaire and then a 3 carat solitaire. At that point I thought "what the heck, should I wear BOTH when I am cleaning, washing, walking and cleaning up after dogs, digging in the garden, watering the lawn, shoveling snow or cleaning out the fish pond????
Now that I think about it, maybe I DO deserve the jewelry for all the work I do.
But no, I told him I would rather have a set sum to donate to Animal rescue every month.
He decided it was a heck of a lot cheaper!!! So said "Fine!!"
I do have a son who will marry some day but let HIM work hard like his father and buy his wife her jewelry. I am leaving all mine to charities.
