The Dutch Royal House has created two separate legal entities for these gifts. This means that not a natural person but the legal entity, the foundation, is the owner of these gifts. These foundations are exempted from inheritance rules and succession taxes as non-natural persons can not die.

The Foundation can not sell or dispose in another way the properties placed into its ownership.
