Thank you for this image LittleMo, from my notes, this must be the brooch that Field mentions on page 34, as "a diamond Scottish thistle surmounted by a carved amethyst ‘brush’”.
This is the first time I have seen an image of this brooch, many thanks, although the origins and provenance of this brooch are unclear to me.
