First up I'd say these pieces are still owned by the Queen and will remain so for her lifetime.
There have been understandings where the "working" jewels have been included with the sovereign's estate passing free of tax and duty to the next sovereign.
I'd expect a similar arrangement is in force today.
Second is the consideration of security and practicality.
The Cambridges would need to have safes in their residences. Jewellery pieces would "travel" between sites under secure arrangements.
Third, we probably wish to know who has exclusive use of a piece on loan from the Queen.
That is more the question, I feel. That might be Kate for all those pieces, or not. And next it will be Charles - unless something very different occurs - see First.
Edit: of course I mean Charles doing the lending and not the borrowing.
Finally, at times I tend to want to throw up my hands and say "Enough". The board is about jewels and not about property rights.
Of course it can be fun to play with all the possibilities but we are not likely to ever know with certainty.
