Their different timing with regard to changing into gala attire certainly provided the public with a peculiar photo opportunity ...but quite a relief to see the King in white tie after all...
I can only agree with you that the very ornate tiara would look much better with a more formal hairdo.
: The Royal Couple arrived by car in Amsterdam
: and Maxima already had her gown & tiara
: "on show" while the King was
: dressed more casually (returning from
: another event).
: Inside the Palace the King changed into more
: formal evening-wear (of course!) while his
: Consort just looked exactly the same as when
: she stepped out of the car .......
: I am sorry, but on such a formal occasion -
: and honestly - hosting a Banquet for all
: foreign Diplomats (the Corps Diplomatique)
: is one of the most important events when the
: RC represents their country for so to show
: up with messy hair and not taking the time
: to look your best? Wonder what she was
: thinking ?????
: Thankfully both former Queen Beatrix and her
: sister Princess Margriet never let us down
: and know how things are done!
: See also my comments here:
: Photo, by Albert Nieboer, shows the King
: & his Consort leaving the Palace after
: the Banquet
