I guess "pearl fabric" refers to something similar to the sautoir in the photo below, quite fashionable at the time of the Norwegian visit to Paris. These "fabrics" often need to be restrung after years of being worn. Given the fact that this type of sautoir was completely out of fashion after 1940 it doesn't seem farfetched that the pearl sections of the sautoir could have been removed instead of being rewoven, and the piece was devided into a shorter necklace and bracelets, with 4 rows of pearls or diamonds in place of the pearl fabric. I think that Arthur's second to last photo and Beth's photo of Queen Maud indeed show the sautoir and I agree with maud that the necklace worn by Princess Astrid on Arthur's first photo could very well be the remaining parts of the sautoir.
