Unfortunately, when the press or even the Court Circular says only that she wore a diamond tiara, it is impossible to judge which one was worn. One of the great frustrations we jewellery lovers have to contend with is that, in that era, photos of the royal ladies were not taken before or after Courts, State Balls or State Banquets, and at times the description of jewels in the Court Circular provide only hazy clues. For example for all the occasions on which there is evidence that Queen Alexandra wore the Ladies tiara, I think there is only one known photograph where that tiara is clearly visible.
On the other hand, we are lucky that, occasionally, at gala opera events illustrations do emerge. I find the descriptions in the press from these events more helpful as numerous people, including members of the press, got to see the various royal ladies.
