I do however see the need for a second, smaller diamond and sapphire tiara for the Dutch Royals. I've been wondering how Queen Emma's sunburst tiara would look with eleven diamond and sapphire tops on them, but maybe they just need to bite the bullet and buy or create a new piece. There are the six elements from Wilhelmina's necklace so it might not take that much of an expense to create a decent smaller diamond an sapphire tiara for princesses to wear.
A simple solution would be to buy one or three sapphires to be used in Queen Emma's diamond tiara. The five sapphires from the elements of Wilhelmina's necklace could also become the centre of the second five diamond stars. They can be used in another version.
Finally we have the 5 diamond sunbursts from the top of the Van Kempen version of the House diamonds. I think the four pearls are part of the antique Pearl tiara but the sunbursts could still be there. Putting a sapphire in the centre of those 5 elements and putting them on a frame might create a very nice new tiara.
The Wolfers tiara always looks like a framed necklace. Whoever wears it. It never really convinces as a tiara (same goes for Amalia with the Sapphire necklace tiara) I think Elisabeth's own tiara is pretty wearable if some adjustments are made. Also the Dutch Sapphire necklace tiara needs a bit of work still to really qualify as a convincing tiara. The sides of the tiara need some additional stones so that it graduates down to the frame. Now it comes to a full and abrupt stop on the sides. A bit of work by the Court Jeweller would do wonders IMHO.
Lovely dress and great way to wear the tiara. Too bad she only had some smaller earrings to go with it.
I always feel sorry about how empty the Belgian jewel boxes are when they could have been so well provided for.
If you look at what Queen Elisabeth, Queen Astrid, princess Lilian, Queen Fabiola and Queen Paola had and join that with the pieces Marie-Jose inherited from her grandmother and brother you'd have a really amazing collection.
They still might need to add some amethysts and pink topaz just because they are the only country who can get away with it with the colour of their order.
Pincess Elisabeth wore a dress from a belgian desgner with a belgian historical tiara and our Sash , rarely seen on a Prncess.
The Duchess of Brabant was loaned a tiara. It looks like her mother let her wear the Wolfers tiara for the event.
Amalia in the small sapphire necklace tiara. Third tiara for three tiara events !
Her mother's Edwardian necklace-tiara would be appropriate worn as a necklace.
The turquoise bracelet as bandeau like her great-grandmother once did!
I would think it highly unlikely the Princess Isabella would loan her ‘aunt’ Benedikte’a diamond stars for her hair - or Princess Benedikte’a star and pearl tiara…
Lovely!
Princess Isabella could wear the diamond stars in her hair, just like young (then) princess Anne-Marie and also her daughter princess Alexia of Greece did.
