However I think the whole thing looked suitably grand, and I liked seeing the George IV on The Queen’s head.
Love the sea of tiaras. The Diamond Diadem doesn’t seem to rest well on HM head though. Kudos for her that she opted NOT to wear her coronation piece. The King wearing the ISC in parliament… sigh… such a missed opportunity to enter a new era. The robes and crown look so outdated. Oh Well he’s a traditionalist at hart I suppose and I am sure many will be absolutely thrilled.
The King wore the Imperial State Crown at today’s State Opening of Parliament in the Chamber of the House of Lords at the Palace of Westminster.
Queen Camilla wore her Coronation gown with the George IV State Diadem (for the first time), what looks to be Queen Alexandra’s Diamond Riviere, and her Coronation Earrings.
Princess Antonia, Duchess of Wellington was wearing the Wellington Tiara and the Duchess of Wellington’s Diamond Earrings as well as a massive Diamond Riviere.
Among the sea of Tiaras you can spot Baroness Geddes wearing the Hesse Turquoise and Moonstone Tiara
The Queen’s Companions were the Marchioness of Lansdowne (wearing the Lansdowne Tiara ) and Lady Sarah Keswick, daughter of the Earl of Dalhousie.
