Today marks the 150th anniversary of the death of Prince Albert, consort to Queen Victoria. Before his death, Prince Albert commissioned a bracelet intended as a gift to his wife for Christmas 1861. This beautiful bracelet features an image of Queen Victoria’s mother, who had passed away earlier in the year. The black velvet band and pearls represent mourning and the snake encircling the image represents eternity. Princess Alice presented her mother with the bracelet on January 1 1862
