Luise and the Prussian Jewels Archived Message

Oh, a lots of hours I have had my fun there. Very dangerous by the way, it´s a little bit like landing in the land of the lotophages of the Odyssey: once you taste it, you forget everything else (the important mail to write, to clean the dishes... what ever).
To our luck, the side is growing over the years, but for the poor page master - or in this case mistress - regrettably it could swell to a monster with a hundred arms. Hard to manage all the links. And so I´m very happy when Ursula sacrifices her time to give us a new bit of information. Thank you, dear Ursula, for this!!!!!

The prussian jewels are gone, mostly. I was very surprised to see the wedding diadem at the prussian wedding recently.
This "greekly" diadem of Luise, tres chic at that time, is certainly gone. At a catalog for a exhibition at Paretz last year "Luise, Die Kleider der Königin" the painting was described (S. 218). The diadem was analysed as made from fine metal or gilded leather as a regning marking ("Hoheitsabzeichen") and accessoire, typical for her pictures and not necessarily existing in real. Further I found that her famous pearls were partly given to her daughters when they married. A footnote (S.234) mentions that King Friedrich Wihelm in 1825 got order for a diadem for Princess Luise when she married Prince Frederik of the Netherlands which is now in the ownership of the Royal House of Denmark. The author quots - tata - Bjarne Steen Jensen, Juvelerne i den Danske Kongehus. So Queen Margarthe might wear today the pearls of Queen Luise of Prussia.

: Oh my gosh. That is the PERFECT way to
: describe the site of Ursula. It seems a
: maze of magnificence that I am not smart
: enough to decode. But I love it so much.
: Thank you for your information. I suppose

: The whole parure was inherited by Queen
    : Mary.
: After her death it was inherited by the Duke
: of Kent. The Duchess has worn it, but the
: tiara was sold. The Kents created a sapphire
: tiare from the necklace (not a big success
: in my eyes, but that´s a matter of taste). I
: didn´t see any pictures of the new one from
: the last years. The tiara seems to be lost.
