PJ, thanks for bringing these lovely brooches to our attention. I am sure they are amethysts with some other stones. Purple with some little green look pretty together.
If these are really once owned by the British royals, and the fact that Queen Alexandra once had some amethysts in her jewelry, could these brooches be part of her property at one time? Just curious.
Nellie, I finally bought the Munn book last November but do not get around to actually open the thick book because I am busy with my teaching job so I might wait until my spring break or summer to read it. Something for me to look toward to later, huh? I did not realize Mr. Munn is also on the Antique Roadshow (is it Australian antique roadshow or British one?). There is one in America but I am not sure to which one you are refering to when you said Mr. Munn is on one such show.
