Page numbers are identical in the two hardback editions of 1987 and 1997. When someone gives a quite different page number, that is usually the clue that they have the softback.
Actually, there is a topic (about some rubies I think ) where the story changed a lot from the 1987 (h) to the 1992 (s) but back again to the 1997 (h).
