Although since the relaunch of the Royal Collection website, I can no longer find the booklet announcing the different publications, my post of a few months ago still contains come information.
Diamonds: A Jubilee Celebration will be the smaller exhibition catalogue, akin to the books released in conjunction with other BPSO Exhibitions including:
Five Gold Rings: A Royal Wedding Souvenir Album or The Royal Tour: A Souvenir Album.
These were both smaller hardback books, around 100 pages, that accompany the exhibition, a smaller and more digestible souvenir, more for tourists than scholars.
In contrast The Queen's Diamonds, will be a large and properly referenced scholarly approach to subject, definitely containing much more information, better images & covering every single exhibit in the exhibition (in contrast to Diamonds: A Jubilee Celebration which will be more of a simplified overview.
The best comparisons to be made between the two books is to compare the two books released to mark the Victoria & Albert exhibition.
The authoritative work on the exhibition was: Victoria & Albert, Art & Love, which was a huge 500 page volume; which can be compared to the Hugh Roberts - The Queen's Diamonds.
Whereas the smaller, cheaper & more digestible publication was Passionate Patrons, which was only 200 pages, and can be compared to the Caroline de Guitaut publication.
