I remember the 'fuss' made about Diana's new hairstyle. It wasn't really a new hairstyle as it was a way of wearing her hair upswept and keeping the tiara in place. I'm no Vidal Sasson but that's my take on it. And I suspect the Queen was not bothered by any of it. --Previous Message-- : I have always thought that Diana was conscious : of being the first Princess of Wales since : Queen Mary, and of following in her : footsteps for a time, at least : stylistically. She was heavily criticized : for adopting a new hairstyle just before she : accompanied the Queen to the Opening of : Parliament. But the style was very : reminiscent of those worn by both Queen : Alexandra and Queen Mary when they were : Princesses of Wales. Rather than trying to : overshadow the Queen (who could on an : occasion like that), I thought Diana made an : effort to express her respect for both their : positions. It was too bad no one seemed to : get it. :
