The Cambridge Emeralds are very confusing. The information revealed in Roberts makes it even more complex; but in regards to this necklace. This is my rough understand of it all. - Augusta, Duchess of Cambridge had a necklace made from some of the emeralds that she had received, this she gave as a gift to the Duchess of Teck in 1857. - With some of the emeralds she kept for herself, Augusta, Duchess of Cambridge made a second necklace from the Cambridge emeralds; which was inherited by the Duchess of Teck in 1889. - These emeralds passed to Prince Francis of Teck in 1897, and to the Countess of Kilomery in 1910; who sold them to Queen Mary in the same year. - The necklace that Queen Mary wore to the investiture of the Prince of Wales was one of the two necklaces that had been made for Augusta, Duchess of Cambridge (it is impossible to know which) - This was subsequently remodelled into 'The Delhi Durbar Choker', which was originally set with sixteen emerald and diamond clusters, separated by diamond rosettes. - This choker was again remodelled in the 1920s, it was reset in platinum in the Art Deco style using eight of the emeralds. It is this choker that was worn by Diana, Princess of Wales and was displayed at the 2006 Dress for the Occasion, BPSO exhibition. http://www.royalcollection.org.uk/microsites/dressfortheoccasion/object.asp?exhibs=BPSO2006jewellery&item=5 --Previous Message-- : : Just found the identical pic and Boffer's : posting. : It is the original Cambridge version as : acquired by Queen Mary. : : I'll wait for Boffer to join in here and : elaborate. : : :
