Re: Queen Margrethe wearing the crown jewels Archived Message

As Christian said, Queen Louise in the portrait apparently combines the emerald tiara which belongs to the Danish crown jewels with the Danish crown diamonds.
I don't know if Queen Margrethe has ever chosen to wear that combination?

: Thanks to RE and Christian. Does anyone have
: color pictures to show what these jewels
: look like today? That parure must look
: lovely (tiara, necklace, pair of earrings,
: brooch, stomacher, bracelet and ring
    : together).

: I do not see youthful pictures of Queen
: Louise too often. That portrait is lovely.

: I used the portrait in my book, and the
: informations I got from The Royal collection
: said that Queen Louise is wearing an emerald
: and diamond tiara which must refer to the
: one on the Danish crown jewels. The painting
: is dated 1964 the same year that the Queen
: got the crown jewels brought to her at
: Amalienborg from Rosenborg so I think the
: necklace and earrings must be the well-known
: diamond demi-parure, while the brooch must
: be the grand bouquet - both from the crown
: jewels. So August Schiøtt's is actually the
: earliest knwn portrait of QL showing her
    : with the crown jewels.
