No I have not seen a picture before of HM with the large pear shaped Aquamarine. Never too old to try something new, even if its wearing a stunning piece of family jewellery! This particular piece was in fact a signature piece of Queen Juliana. She wore it constantly in the 1950's, 60's and 70's and perhaps most memorable on the day of Queen Beatrix' investiture in 1980. These were her privately owned jewels. In fact, all the Aquamarine jewellery in the royal collection comes from Queen Juliana. Since her eighteenths birthday she received Aquamarine jewellery as presents. The Tiara (parents) and Necklace (grandmother) are the most notable as they are now often worn as a parure (which it isn't really). But Juliana received many more stunning pieces over the years. Most of those were presents from Prince Bernhard. Such a generous chap!
