As you can read in the first post from EricS in the tiara's description, the base is made of cabochon amethysts. Amethysts are also dangling at the bottom of the earrings. I find them odd too, like an afterthought to lend the tiara more substance; they're disconnected from the flowers above, and I don't quite understand why amethysts weren't used in the flowers as well (perhaps in the stamens) in order to make the design more cohesive. --Previous Message-- : Are those pierced cabochon saphires in the : base of the tiara?
